Camp Buster

Mountain Man Adventure

 

             Welcome Scouts and Scouters, to the 2009 Neosho District Camporee.  This year’s theme is Mountain Man Adventure and we are traveling back to the 1830's.  Troops will participate in Rendevous Competitions to vie for the coveted Neosho Super Troop Shovel!  The Camporee will be held at Camp Buster.  Camp Buster is located near Hulbert, OK (see map for directions).  The camp does not have potable water, so every unit needs to bring enough water with them for the weekend.

 

           Activities and Presentations will be done on Saturday.  Awards for the competitions will be given out at Camp Fire that Saturday night.

 

Competition Events:

· Beaver Sticking (Throwing Spears into a target)

· Hawking (Throwing Tomahawks into a target)

· Archery (Shooting Arrows)

· Two Man Saw (Cutting a Log, Timed event)

· Animal Track Identification (There will be cards with tracks at each of the other event locations)

· Pioneering Event (Will need Pioneering Kit for this event, Look in the Pioneering Merit Badge Book for Kit Information)

· Troop Gateway (Into your campsite will be judged for points)

· Scoutmaster Dessert Cook off (Judged at the beginning of campfire)

· Scout Uniform

· Provide Two-deep Leadership

· Local Tour Permit

· Pioneering Kit

Camp Buster is located on 14 mile creek between Hulbert and Ft. Gibson Lake on SH51. Turn north on Clear Creek Rd. and go approx. 1 mile. Turn Right and look for the signs.
